GMP of generic drugs
Recent incidents of death due to opportunistic infections unveil the incidents of fungus-tainted drug. This arouse the public concern of Good Manufacturing Protocol of local pharmaceutical companies and the control of Department of Health of Hong Kong. While this is only tip of the iceberg, some doctors find that generic drugs are less potent and have more side effects. While this may be the truth, the pharmaceutical industry should have the 4th phase for drug trial, i.e. to measure the efficacy and safety of drugs manufactured by generic medicine manufacturers.
